Andrea Granchi

He was an artist, filmmaker, curator, and lecturer, recognized as one of the leading figures of Italian artists’ cinema.
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he developed an experimental practice that intertwined film, visual arts, photography, and sound, distinguished by an ironic, refined, and deeply innovative language.

Throughout his career, he created numerous artists’ films and curated international programs, making a significant contribution to the dissemination of the genre in Italy and abroad. He participated in major events, including the Venice Biennale, the Milan Triennale, and the Rome Quadriennale, and was featured in exhibitions at public and private institutions.

Alongside his artistic work, he was actively engaged in teaching at the Academies of Fine Arts in Carrara and Florence, where he promoted new areas of research into contemporary languages. His works are held in public collections and museum institutions, including the MAXXI Museum in Rome.
