Rifugio Digitale

Rifugio Digitale

The Rifugio Digitale E.T.S. Association founded in 2022 as a private non-profit entity, is dedicated to organizing cultural events through artistic, educational, and creative activities, with a particular focus on digital art and photography. Registered with the National Single Registry of the Third Sector (RUNTS), the Association enjoys a range of regulatory, managerial, financial, and tax benefits, both for the organization itself and for its supporters.

An exhibition space that rises from the foundations of an old air-raid tunnel, originally built in 1943 as a shelter from World War II bombings. Once a place of refuge from a tragic reality, the “Rifugio della Fornace” is now “Rifugio Digitale”: a site of rebirth where technology meets art, giving life to a contemporary environment where creativity is explored through the language of today’s digital world.

The redevelopment project, curated by the architectural firm Archea Associati, is designed to host digital experiences of all kinds, with an eye always turned toward the future and new artistic frontiers. It will host exhibitions as well as events and performances related to art, architecture, photography, literature, cinema, and any other initiative connected to the digital realm. By projecting original visions—and more—across 16 screens arranged along the tunnel’s 33 meters, Florence welcomes a new space where the connection between the arts, people, and technology creates an intense, unexpected, and interactive experience. A space conceived for constant, dynamic change, marked by a new and exhilarating pace that sets it apart from a traditional art gallery.
