Mario Maioli
Architect, urban planner, designer, and painter, Mario Maioli is an eclectic figure in Italian creativity, whose work weaves together design rigor, technology, and expressive freedom.
From the late 1970s to 1992, he marked a key milestone in the automotive sector as head of design coordination at Fiat Auto for Fiat, Lancia, Autobianchi, and Alfa Romeo, defining the identity of modern Italian automotive design through innovation and production synergies.
Following his industrial career, he reinterpreted his technical expertise through an artistic lens: between 1985 and 2000, he created jewelry by fusing goldsmithing traditions with industrial techniques, before devoting himself to an intense body of acrylic painting.
Featuring structured compositions and vibrant colors, his more than 1,300 works embody a continuous exercise in reinvention and a perfect balance between method and imagination.

Mario Maioli combines the rigor of design culture with the freedom of artistic expression—two dimensions that have been constantly intertwined throughout his career.
As head of design coordination at Fiat Auto from the late 1970s until 1992, he helped shape the identity of modern Italian automotive design. It was precisely out of that industrial experience that,… in 1985, his pictorial research was born. Today, this body of work includes over 1,300 pieces, characterized by structured compositions, vibrant colors, and dynamic energy. The exhibition highlights the value of the project as a tool for creating the conditions under which form can emerge, interact with space, and reinvent itself without ever being permanently defined.
