Marisol Mendez

The protagonist of the third episode of (pre)Visioni is Bolivian photographer Marisol Mendez. Her project MADRE, which has profoundly shaped her artistic identity, was born from a powerful wave of anger against the sexist stereotypes through which women are still represented today, and it unfolds as an act of creative disobedience.

In conversation with special guest Alessia Glaviano, Irene Alison explains how a new generation of Latin American women photographers is redefining their own representation: shifting from the role of object of the gaze to that of subject who asserts and claims her own authorship.
