Lara Shipley

The protagonist of the second episode of (pre) Visioni is Lara Shipley. Through her images, the artist offers a profound insight into the arid, sun-baked landscapes of the Sonoran Desert, between Arizona and Mexico, one of the most “hot” and controversial borders in the United States, the epicentre of an increasingly polarised debate on immigration and its regulation.

Irene Alison, together with special guest Renata Ferri, explores the intertwining of the iconic memory of photography and the intimate work of the photographer, a process of reworking memory that forms the core of Shipley’s visual research.
