La Repubblica talks about Avevo Due Paure: memory as the living body of history

On January 9, 2025, journalist Lavinia Elizabeth Landi published an in-depth feature in la Repubblica on the exhibition Avevo Due Paure, hosted at Rifugio Digitale through January 26, 2025. The project, created by photographers Paolo Cagnacci and Matteo Cesari with video works by Theo Putzu, was curated by Paolo Cagnacci and Irene Alison.

Supported by Fondazione CR Firenze and organized in collaboration with Forma Edizioni, Infoto, Banca Ifigest, and Unicoop Firenze, the exhibition was much more than a commemoration: Avevo Due Paure gave the Resistance a tangible, layered, and deeply human dimension. A photographic and visual journey that explores the traces of the past in the landscape, in materials, and in the expressions of people.

On the eve of the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation, the project poses an urgent question: what remains today of that time of struggle and sacrifice? Through powerful images and evocative videos, Avevo Due Paure awakened collective memory and invited the public to keep listening to the voices of History.
